UNDERSTANDING THE LAW OF KARMA, STEPPING ON THE WAY TO IMPROVE FATE
HOW GOOD AND BAD FATE FORMED
Even there are some people read newspaper, reading about unexpected disasters, inhale long breath and say, "Why they beget God's willing as such unfortunate?"
All kinds of these questions, usually all fortune tellers will use "Theory Im Yang Wu Sing". The fortune teller will say, “This is because destined, because the time of birth is good/bad". But, "Why some people borned in the good birth time while others are bad time of birth? Why fate is so unfair?" To study the cause of "Fate" theory thoroughly, one must understand "Three Karmic Phase" in Buddhism.
What is the connection between "Three Phase of Karma" with "Fate" ? Apparently the theory of fate based upon the principal of "Cause and Effect”.” Three Phase of Karma" is the only way to reflect what had happened in the past up to now, can be understood clearly about changing (rotation) process that is "Cause" before birth in the present time, and the "Effects" after birth.
So this is how "Cause and Effect" works, there is "The Past", "The Present", and "The Future". This is how the three periods laws, so the only way to change one's fate is based on these rotary laws. The book of "Cause and Effects" from Buddhism have 4 holly lines, principally: "To know the cause from the past is to see what one begets in the present that is the cause. To know the effects on the future, is to see what have been done in the present, this is the cause!" More clearly, the seeds you have planted in the past, you will beget the fruits in this life; and the seeds you are planting in the present, therefore, in the future, and you will pick the fruits.
In Buddhism, in "Keng Su Cen Ie Yu Bo Se Suo Wen Cing" describes clearly about the Law of Karma. Below are excerpts about various kinds of Karma fruitations:
In the world, there are man and women who have cruel heart. Their hands hold weapons and kill without compassion, without regret, or they do it by themselves or by ordering others to do it. The sins and the effects are the same. When they die later, they will be thrown into hell and tortured, after their karmas are exhausted, they will have human form. If they have human form, they will have short life span, or in sickness all the time, no happy and cheerful days.
"Due to Killing therefore beget Short Age."
In the world, there are men and women who are kind hearted, not carrying weapons, not killing and full of compassion, also have feeling of remorse, later after they die, they will be borned in Heavenly Realms, and beget happiness, after all the merits are exhausted, they will be reborned with long life.
"Due to Not Killing beget Long Life."
"Due to Injuring Living Beings, therefore, they will beget Illnesses."
"Due to Anger and Revengeful beget Ugly Face."
"Due to Obstructing others fortunes, they meet Obstacles along their Life's Journey."
There are men and women who don’t want to appreciate those who deserve to be appreciated and respected; who supposed to be taken care of but not taken care of, often have haughtiness. Upon death, they will be tortured in hell. After punishments exhausted, if the are borned as humans, surely they will be reborned as low class and unappreciated people.
"Due to Not Appreciating others and Haughty, they beget becoming Low Class People and Detestable,"
There are men and women who respect and appreciate those who deserve it, take care those who supposed to be taken care of gladly and not haughty. Upon death, they will enter Heavenly Realm. After their karma is exhausted, they will be reborned again as human; therefore, they will beget honors,
"Due to Respecting and Appreciating others; therefore, Respected and Appreciated."
There are men and women who are stingy, don't want to give alms to the poor , don’t want to medicate and give medications to the sick and poor, have greedy heart, want to have others prosperities. Upon death, they will be tortured in hell. After punishments are exhausted, if they are borned in human form, they will be poor and impoverished,
"Due to Stingy and Greedy; therefore, beget Poverty."
There are men and women who are generous often help the poor by giving food and clothing’s, often medicate the sick and poor, not greedy and not desire other’s belongings. Upon death, they will be borned in Heavenly Realm, after all the karma is exhausted, they will be borned as human with piles of wealth.
"Due to not Stingy and not Greedy; therefore, beget Wealth"
These are some examples which I took from Sutra above. Briefly the description of Law of Cause and Effect is: What you have planted that will be what you will pick, those who ill will beget short age, those who are stingy and greedy will be in poverty, those who don't appreciate others beget low class life and detestable, those who harm living beings will beget all kinds of illnesses, those who prevent others fortunes, will beget obstructions along their life's journey. Law of Karma is FAIR and all retributions caused by our doings.
Besides this, there are a lot more the law of Karma Rotations within Karma, for example rotation for revenge to each other, merit done and merit received, etc. Not little that the karma rotation manifested in the present life. Good and bad things have been done in the present life right away get their fruits, in the present life. Good seed will beget good fruits; bad seed will beget bad fruits. There is some karma that will manifest later after passing several rebirths; this is determined by how much good and bad karma have been accumulated.
CHAPTER 2
WHO HAS CONTROL OVER OUR DESTINY? THE CORE PRINCIPAL TO CHANGE OUR FATE
Who actually determine our fate? Is it true God? God has determined human's
fate, there are poor and rich, there are respectable and detestable.
Even though in the Law of Karmic Rotation has clearly stated before us. The one and only in charge of our fate is none other than us. Because all of them are done by ourselves and we also should be responsible for our doings.
In the present life, you are cruel, kill living beings, these will cause in the future life will beget short lifespan, or beget all kinds of sickness, live a life without tranquility and happiness. In the present life, you try hard to prevent others fortune, this has set for your future life full of obstacles in your life’s journey.
In the present life you are haughty and often lower others, this has set for our future life as lower class and detestable people. In present life one has cruel and stingy heart, don’t; want to help the poor and sick, this has set for our future birth will have poor fate and suffer.
In present life, you are generous, often help in physical (monetary) or emotional level to the poor and sick, this has set for our future birth having fortunate and honorable fate.
So from the above we can conclude that you determine your own fate. Who else if it's not us who will in charge of our fate! Nobody else can force fate to you, all of them done by yourself and experienced by yourself.
And your fate at present time is the result of Karma rotation that were done by you in the past, this is the fate you have set for yourself,
There are some nay people ask me," In the present time, I have generous heart, often help others; then, why I have bad fate and even often hated by others?" There are some say: "In the present life, I have donated so much of my money, always have good attitude toward others, why my fate remain having countless obstructions? Often I see others who have cruel heart even with all means to make oneself gains benefit while others suffer from it, and they in fact becoming even more prosperous?"
Actually, what are one now, will not be for sure be manifested right away, there are sometimes, after their old age, then they will beget their fruits, there are more common that the karma will be manifested in future birth. And whatever received at present life, actually more likely "cause" or "seed" that have been planted in the past birth, it's more of like owing and repaying.
In the present life, you have done good deed, in turn, you have been hated. This is due to in the past life you have done alike, repaying kindness of others with evils, so you have "owe" in the past life; in the present life, you will beget alike. After the debt is paid; then, you will beget the fruit of "Generous Heart"
In the present life, encounter so many life’s obstacles, this is due to the karma in the past, using all kinds of means to prevent others fortune and that's why you are owing, after the debt is paid; then, you will start receiving the fruit of good karma. According to the good deeds that you have done.
Those who are rich and prosper in present life, this is due to that in the past life have planted good seeds, and in the present life, they beget their good karma.. If "Good Karma" is exhausted, then they will start to receive their ”Bad Karma", "Disbenefit Others" that have been done in the present life.
If the “owe” that have been done in the past life is huge; therefore, the repaying of "DEBT" is also long. If "DEBT" in the past life is light; then, the time it takes to pay the "DEBT" is shorter. This is fair.
So the rotation of karmic retributions, are not the same, some are in couple of years and have received it, some are tenths of years, there are some also receive it in the future life, there are some will receive it in two to three future births.
Not to forget the most important of Karmic Rotation: "Those who have planted too heavy “Bad Seed", caused by too heavy debts; therefore, most probably, this person will be borned as Horned Animals. In the future, have to go thru many karma as animals; then, they will start to be borned as human again.
Sometimes, there will be an intrusion "Neutralize" Law of Karmic Rotation. For example “Good Seeds” planted in the past, should make one beget fortune for 10 years, but due to in the present, one is planting “BAD SEED”, this will cause one 's fortunes will be decreased for couple of years. On contrary, if in the past life have planted “Bad Seed”, one should beget one's bad karma for couple of years, but due to in the present, one has done countless of “Good Seeds”, therefore, one's karmic punishment will also be reduced for couple of years.
If the merits planted in the present is even increasing this will cause the bad karmic retributions experienced now will be cleansed. The theory of "Adding and Subtracting" must be seen which are heavier "Good" or "Bad". This can be figuratively compared like scale. This is the essence of "Fate made by me; fortune, I am also the one that beg"
This is also the base perspective (way) to change the fate. If we have realized that in the past, by accident or not, have done good or bad deeds; therefore, this will determine our karma in the present.
We must quickly resolute to repent, soon, accumulate good deeds, so that the "Good" past will be quickly added and the bad karma will be decreased tremendously.
Then, keep on adding the merituous deeds, sot hat we will soon receive the good karma, this is the one and only way to change fate.
During the Ming dynasty there is a great learner transforming his won destiny. His name is Yuen Liao Fan, Unceasingly perform good deeds, he transforms his fate “Short Lifespan", " No Child", "No Rank" becoming the future example to those who want to change their fate.
Yun Liao Fan was borned in
First, his family members are read first. Apparently, he is very accurate; then, Mr. Yuen's turn. Mr. Khong is apparently not making any slight of mistake, he predicts that Mr. Yuen in this regency examination will be in the 14th, in the provincial level examination will be in the 71st, in national will be in the 9th, but he will be only a small rank officer in 3 years, his age will end on 14th month when he reaches 53 years old and no child.
On the second year, all the examinations level passed are exactly as predicted. Passing 20 more years, all the good and the bad things predicted by the hermit Khong are not one missed! Because of this, Mr. Yuen surely believes that all goods and bads in humans' life have been predestined not one can be forced. Next, he is not lying to himself anymore; he leaves everything up to fate. Finally due to certain important task Mr. Yuen goes to mountain Lew Shia, close to Nan King where he meets with a monk Yin Kun Tan Se. He has explained about Law of Karma also explained "Fate made by one, fortunes is begged by oneself also." And he advises and encourages Mr. Yuen not to become small and gives up to fate.
After listening to explanations from Yin Ku Tau Se, Mr. Yuen realizes of himself. He determines to change his unfortunate fate, so he bows in front of Budhas. He piously repent for his sins and vow to change it. Then, he makes a vow to perform 3000 good deeds and beg to have higher rank. Then, he takes note of all the goods and bads deeds he had done.
Not up to 2 years, even though the 3000 good deeds have not been reached, he already begets promotion. Now facts speak for itself that Mr. Khong prediction is no longer accurate. But, Mr. Yuen is not so diligent in his charity. After 10 years, the 3000 merits reached eventually and he begets another promotion. This has made him to realize for the benefit of accumulating and perform good deeds. Therefore, he vows to perform good deeds again.as many as 3000, begging for a child. And it comes to reality, not even a year passed his wife gives birth to a son. His wife is very smart, diligently helping his husband to help the poor, or set free lifes, everyday chant mantra, widened the good deeds, sometimes in one day 10 good deeds performed, and not even 3 years, the 3000 good deeds have been reached, Next, they continue their good deeds up to 10,000 or more without begging for long age, apparently he has reached 74 years old, and his son has passed University, has high position in the province.
So there you go the real life story of Mr. Yuen who are courageously repent and in the long run unceasingly perform good deeds until he can transform his predestined "Bad Fate". This can be a mirror to modern days people and continue on the study of fate, also to prove that diligently perform good deeds can create new fate for themselves.
CHAPTER 3
CAN WE CHANGE OUR FATE BY BOWING IN FRONT OF GODS AND BUDHAS
Many people bow and beg for God's and Buddha’s protection, there are some beg for fortunes, beg for plenty of fortunes, beg for child, beg for cure from sickness, beg for life's partner, even somebody beg for to lengthen one’s lifespan Can their wishes come to reality? If they can come true, isn't that the fate is o easy to be changed?
This has been in the in mind of everybody. To disperse the clouds, we must first understand three things:
A. WHAT IS REAlLY THE TRUE NATURE OF WORSHIPPING GODS AND BUDHAS?
In
If you kill someone, rob or sell narcotic; after doing these, you buy incense, offerings, candles, praying papers, etc. Sincerely begging in front of Gods and Budhas "Protecting", will they bestow?
If you are not getting used to give alms, not even a cent donation to the poor and the sick, when pray to Gods you offer many begging for smooth business and gain many, then even you bleed your knee and head taking bow lower your head, will honest and non-ego Gods will be willing to take your "bribe"? Or are you performing little of good deeds and many bad things or usually very egoistic, never think of the others interest, never help those who are in great need of your help or your brain only filled with bad ideas, like to disbenefit others for your own gain. Therefore, no matter how many times you bow in front of Gods and Budhas, the result still null.
Not little men and women in front of Gods and Budhas, right after litting the incense soon beg for protection and blessings, they never mindful about their daily activities, is it proper for Gods and Budhas to protect them?
The genuine attitude to worship Gods and Budhas, would be based on "Admiring Beautifies" and "Grateful". For example, you worship Kwan Im Po Sat, you must contemplate that
For example, you worship Kwan Tee, He is the Evil Chaser and Cleanser God, He is famous for being honest and loyal. Everyday, you burn incense begging for Kwan Tee to protect you safe and sound outside or inside the house, tranquility in the whole house, no troubles or bad things happened, but do you usually chase away the "EVIL" thoughts from your heart? Did you maintain "Honesty Forever" inside your heart? Did you perform absolute “Loyalty"? If you can do these; therefore, your heart and Kwan Tee will be tied, automatically, Kwan Tee will protect you. Then, when you burn incense to worship Him, the feeling of "Admiring Beautify and Grateful" will surface naturally.
Be sure that all religions are the same, when you pray to Jesus. You should have the feeling of "Admiring Beautify and Grateful", because Jesus has sacrificed himself to help man kinds, whereas do you usually follow Jesus path, give "Love" toward mankind?
One day, I take a trip to out of town riding a taxi. I noticed that the taxi driver drives changes lane frequently, turning and passing thru other vehicles never gives in to others, really selfish? Even worst, the driver’s attention is right on the back of the female pedestrians who walk on the pavement, and his mouth never stops adoring. This kind of human is very egoistic and always disbenefits others. His naughty thoughts are so deep, disaster will strike at any moment, but on the dashboard, there is a charm paper from
Someone said that worshipping Gods and Budhas is worshipping to statue. This is a very shallow and narrow view of common people. We don't just judge the "statue" is with magical power or not. If you can always reprimand ourselves every time you are facing the "statue” so that you will not committing bad deeds, if you will be able to plant the spirit of helping others from this "statue" inside your deepest heart, and with this kind of spirit can be an example to help people, therefore, you have planted an inexhaustible merits. The good merits you are going to receive is also inexhaustible. Isn't it narrow and shallow view (minded) to say "Worshipping Statue"?
B. IS WORSHIPPING GODS AND BUDHAS IDENTICAL TO GIVE ALMS?
I remember about four years ago seeing Mr. Chou's Feng Shui. Mrs. Chao unstoppably describing how bad is the house. Business failed, all family members including her often gets sick, her eldest son gets involved with bad companies and if he returns home, often makes a mess. After patiently I hear all her complains seriously I advises her to do many good deeds, then she can really throw away all the negative energy in the house. Unexpectedly, after listening to me, directly she replies, "You say, I am not doing merituous deeds? everyday I pray to Bodhisattva, I have pray for five to six years, there is not little I have spent to buy incense, candles, and praying papers, there are so many meritious deeds I have done, why I don't beget good karma?"
I ask, "You have pray to Bodhisattva for five to six years, have you ever learnt from Bodhisattva to help the poor and the sick?"
She replies, "I myself poor, how can I help others?"
I ask again "If you don’t have money to help others have you ever helped others in person?"
After pondering a while, she replies: "Never"
I ask again: "Have you ever buy chicken, duck or fishes to be killed for cooking?"
She replies: “Off course, Can I eat them?"
I reply," You have money to buy chicken, duck or fishes to be killed and eaten, but have you ever buy birds or fishes to be set free?"
She replies: "Never"
I say again: “You pray to Bodhisattva have you ever chant Budha’s Names or Sutras?"
She replies: “I am not good at reading"
I say: "You’ve never given money to charities, never helped others in person, never chanted sutras to cleanse your sins. Then, what kind of good karma would you receive?"
She replies: "I am everyday beg to Bodhisattvas begging to Bodhisattvas surely will surely receive good karma, doing good surely will receive good things"
"Have you ever done good deeds?"
"I burn incense and pray to Bodhisattva, isn't that good deeds? I am really sincere."
"Good deeds in doing something that will benefit man kinds, other living beings, if you pray to bodhisattva only to protect yourself. How you are really sincere can't be counted as meritous deeds."
"Bodhisattva is just like a mother heart wishes for all living being to be free from the sea of sufferings. Automatically Bodhisattva will protect you. If you can not do as Bodhisattva wishes for and only praying and worshipping Bodhisattvas, everyday, how compassionate, Bodhisattva only very limited protecting you", I reply.
This wrong view like this is very common in this world.
C. CAN WE SUCCEED BEGGGING TO GODS AND BUDHAS FOR WEALTH AND PROSPERITY?
Begging to Gods and Budhas so that we will be blessed with wealth and prosperity even wishing for rank and child, begging for match and avoided from disaster, begging for cure from illnesses and long life, etc. will surely succeed.
But begging to Gods and Budhas has its prerequisite. The "Requirement"' is for us to perform good deeds in certain amount. Just like mentioned before, Mr. Yuen vows in front of Budhas to perform 3000 good deeds to get promotion; then, vows again to perform 3000 good merits, then, continue on performing good deeds without requesting for long life, he is bestowed with long life.
Taken from here, it means that merituous deeds seem to be very important. So, even though Gods and Budhas are very compassionate but will not just bestow blessings and good karma to just everybody. Explicitly, we can draw a conclusion that Gods and Buddhas do not transgress karmic principal on a “Whoever done good deeds will beget good karma". So, in conclusion, "Planting good seeds will pick good fruits, planting bad seeds will pick bad fruits". This is the eternal "Truth".
There is one real life story:
On last fall season, I visit a temple to see a ceremony. That time there’s a mother by the name of Erl Ku sincerely beg to God Lo Cu begging for fortunes. Lu Co writes a poem containing five lines. The meaning for the poem approximately wants her do quickly perform large scale good deeds, besides this, there’s no more. This has become the hot topic among the people present. They conclude that Erl Ku will face great disaster; they suggest Erl Ku to quickly gives "Promise", if saved protected by Gods in the future will gives offerings to express gratitude.
Soon, Erl Ku prays to God, quickly, he kneels down in front of altar and promises. After this, she is relieved and quietly sits on the side just like any others sit next to her. Erl Ku thinks that by giving promises; therefore, she does not need to worry anymore. All obstructions and disasters will be eradicated by Lu Co. But, I think it's not that easy. I don't have the heart, so I say to her: "Lu Co wants you to perform large scale merituous deeds. There are reasons for this. If you just make promises and assume that problems are solved, maybe this will not solve the problem, because "promises" is not a good deed."
My words have made her uncomfortable. Staring at me, she replies, "You are just a young man, what do you know? Making promises are useless? Then, what are useful?"
I realize that people tend to like praises, I have "Slap" her, and for sure she is not happy. Then, I say to her "Setting free lifes is good deed. Can you in front of Gods and to set free couple of the lifes of living beings? If you can do this, the result will be much better than just giving promises."
Because of the people around her do not support my words; off course finally Erl Ku does not pay any attentions to my words, moreover doing it. The incident has passed for twenty days. I have forgotten about it. On one morning, I return to the temple to see the ceremony. I hard that Erl Ku suddenly gets acute illness, has been taken to the hospital, but failed and she passed away. The news spread so quickly, nobody would have expected; then, the whole people in the temple is talking about it all over.
"She is so young, but she has passed away, she is just fifty years old, two days ago still fresh and young. That time there's someone advises her to set free lifes, but she is not happy about it...."
I inhale long breath. Often times, people say that they pray to Gods and Buddha is a wrong belief. Those who say "Wrong Belief" surely do not know "True Faith" lies in it.
Even those who worship to Gods and Budhas do not know "True Faith" lies in it and the essence of the law karmic rotation. No wonder Bodhisattva thinks that humans are really pitiful due to their ignorance.
CHAPTER FOUR
EXAMINE AND CHOOSE AUSPICIOUS FENG SHUI, WILL IT BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE PREDESTINED FATE?
Many people, when their family or their friends are not in good fate, will advise them to re-arrange Feng Shui to change their fate, is that so? True, re- arranging Feng Shui will change the poor to rich, change the sick to healthy, can change government worker to get promotions and raise, change business which often lost to prosper, even husband and wife who often fights to live in harmony and peace.
Physically, it seems that, Feng Shui can change fate. But many people disregard the diamond sentences: "Good House Lived by Hok Qi (person blessed with abundant good luck and fortune) person." Clearly, all the house that have good Feng Shui can only be lived by people who are Hok Qi.
On contrary, person who does not have Hok Qi, will not be possibly reside in the house with good Feng Shui.
How to get Hok Qi? I have explained this in front:
1. People are borned with it.
2. Gained in the present life by doing plenty of merituous deeds.
The first one is determined by the past, the second done is the later accumulation.
The essence, Feng Shui can change fate only on the surface, this has certain base. There are two sources that Feng Shui can change one's fate. One is because the merit accumulated in the past. Second is because the merit accumulated in the present life. So what actually can change "Fate" not Feng Shui but "Cause and Effect". Because of the merits accumulated in the past or accumulated in the present are good karma enjoyed by those who have planted good seeds.
Since having the inherited knowledge for the past twenty years, studying Feng Shui, I have observed these for long time. Sometimes, I want to really help the poor with all my strength deserving to be sympathized. Freely, I give Feng Shui's consultation for their houses, and gives directions to them on how to eradicate disasters, have good Feng Shui, and always think of the best way to save money to fix it.
But, the person insists upon their belief, even listen to or believing more to what others said. Sometimes not fit with on how it should be done. Finally, I have just only wasted my time and my mind. This is due to how little they have planted "Good Seeds".
There is not little people who have come to me for Feng Shui consultations escorted by their friends with full faith trusting me and I am also with my pleasure and full strength helping them. But sometimes, meeting Feng Shui which is impossible to help, I am speechless. This is due to that it's not the time yet for him to receive his good karma.
About five years ago, I meet with a bank director. His business runs just ok. I advise him to destroy one room and narrow the banks door about twenty inch. But due to the practical considerations, he does not want to change it and it has been three years. His business runs just ok. Then, due to advices from his old buddies and by destroying the room, finally, he reluctantly gets rid of the room. From then on, his bank business runs very good. After three months, hurrily he changes the bank's door. From then on, his bushiness runs even smoother. He opens branches abroad, now he is a very wealthy man. Unfortunately, after becoming a tycoon, he is much less often contacts his old buddies. Why he postpones getting rid of the room for three years? This is due to the fact that his prosper time has not ripen yet. Then, soon after listening to his friends, he destroys the room; then, his prosper time ripen.
There are also strange things. There is Feng Shui of a house determined by outside factors, like road, buildings in front of the houses. One's fate is like buried. But when there are changes (good karma ripen), the road in front of the house is destroyed, and there are other buildings built to shield the bad energy caused by the harmful buildings. Then, automatically, the Feng Shui of the house is improved.
Off course there are not little cases where good Feng Shui of the house, due to the new buildings and new freeways, or new roads becomes a bad Feng Shui. All the bad and good changes actually are caused by the principal of "Karmic Law", so "Feng Shui" is just the stems. "Cause and Effect" is the source.
CHAPTER FIVE
MANY WAYS TO PLANT "GOOD SEEDS"
How to judge big or small "Merituous Seeds" planted? "Planting good seeds or merituous seeds" is doing good deed. Generally people in the HK soon right after talking about “Doing Merituous Deeds" surely will connect it with several other things: “Is this should be considered as giving alms?”, “I must donate my money?"
This is a wrong view considering equalize "Merituous Deeds" with "Spending Money", must "Spend Money" then it's considered as "Good Deed". Even though, the scope of "Good Deed" is very broad. Some good deed means to spend money, for example is building a hospital and school. old folks home, orphanage, giving charities to the poor, medicate and giving medications to the sick for free, buildings roads and bridges, buying road lamps, donate money to the victim of natural disaster, mass hunger, buy coffin to those who can't afford it, fixing and building temples, printing many Budhist books to be distributed for free, buy animals to be set free later on.
There are also good merit without "Spending Money", for example not to kill animals, getting rid of revenge toward others, not to disclose other's ugly side instead praise others, get rid of all kinds of dispute, show to others what are good deeds and virtuous, get rid of small stones on the road that my hinder others including banana skins, pieces of broken sharp glasses; escort the elderly, children and handicapped to cross the road; gives seat to the elderly and pregnant women; help in any way you can to those sick during the journey; cheer up those who suffer from serious sickness and frustration; help to make other’s wishes come true; help others so that they can meet their long lost family members again; tell the history and story so that other will be freed from their ignorance and cruelty; advise people to throw away all filthy things and toward the truth; forgive others; voluntarily chant sutras for others so as for that person will be avoided from disasters; advise somebody so that he/she will believe in Karmic Law(Cause and Effects); helping others without any string attached; donate blood to help others, etc.
It's very clear to us now that good deeds don’t mean "Spending Money", the most important thing is "Sincere" heart to do it. "Good Deeds" scope is very broad, wherever you are; there is always "Door to plant good seeds". It's up to you whether you are sincere or not. I have ride on ferry couple of times from Thay Ku to Lung Hwan. I find out that one of the ferry workers is very polite, without realizing it. I feel sense of respect from my heart; quietly I look at him expressing my respect and praise.
Seeing other give seat to others in the bus, seeing others escort the blind to cross the street. I express my respect thru my eyes, they are not only having high moral and appraisable, actually they’re planting good seeds. There are sometimes, someone doing good deeds without anybody knowing it, and without anybody hear of it, for example give alms to the poor without mentioning one's name, silently get rid of others deep revenge, silently avoid other's from disasters, silently make other’s dreams come to reality, etc. The good seed planted is much greater; the merit done hidden called Im Tek. In Budhism, it is called Formless Good Deeds.
There are small and great merit, principally divided into two:
1. Measured by the "Degree of How Sincere The Heart Is"
For example the rich donate 100 yen, the poor donated 100 yen. 100 yen donated by the rich is just like a hair plucked out of 9 cows. On contrary, 100 yen for the poor means the food for couple of days. Because of this, the level of sincerity is far different. Even though, it's equally 100 yen, the poor has planted greater good karma compared to the rich. So sometimes the poor donated only tens of yens will be bigger winner compared to thousands or tens of thousands of yens donated by the rich.
For example, A and B living in the same environment, give donation same amount of money. But A after giving donations the heart always remembering ,wishing to soon beget good things and often like to stress on good things in return for his good deeds and happy about it. On contrary, B, after donating the money, never thinks about to stress out on getting anything back in return, doesn’t have desire receiving good karma soon, remains pious, thrifty, careful, also work hard. If it's so, the level of sincerity between both A and B differs greatly, off course B will receive greater good karma compared to A.
In Budhist Sutra said: "
Sincerity is "Measurement", measures the compassion. For people who have enoughly train the heart and behavior, the measurement of compassion emitted is very far. Every true religious leaders, on the beginning of every religious gathering always wish and hope for the same thing, that will save the devotees, help the devotees freed form the sea of sufferings. This great compassion is great merit immeasurable and priceless. Now on every Budhist ceremony and Tao, during the pray, all the merit will be dedicated toward the devotee, begging for the peace of the world, free of disasters, good harvest, the devotee will have great and tranquil life. This is also the manifestation of outpouring of compassion, an essence of priceless merit.
To those who study Budhism and Tao. A hermit resolves to dedicate the merit toward others so as to change their fate for the better, a hermit must shine the compassion heart not for oneself but for the mass, diligently planting little by little, soon will harvest piles of blessings.
2. Measured From "Level Of Receiving Benefit"
For example A is doing merit enjoyed by only one person; whereas B is doing good deeds enjoyed by many. Off course B is far better than A. Another example, C is a person with unhealthy lifestyle, like to gamble and other bad things, his debt is piling up. Then, A, with money pays C’s debt so that C is saved form the punishment. On the contrary B, with words giving directions so that C is realized and walk on the right path, and C lives happily afterward. A and B equally giving benefit to somebody, planting good seeds, but A is just for a while giving benefit to C, whereas B forever benefits C, for sure B's merit is far greater. So it's not always "Money" can do good deeds.
Both ways to measure above emphasize upon the "Heart". Explicitly, not always the rich is the one that can do good deeds. The poor also will be able to do as long as "Sincere” do it. The result will be much better compared to the rich, so use "Heart" is far better than use "Money". And Budhas will bestow blessings to those who can give "Love" to mass. That's why it's said that "Budhas are impartial, the most important thing is the moral and virtue", here lies Budha's Maha Fairness.
CHAPTER 6
THE
Let me introduce couple of big charities without much money, or not spending any money. "Charities, Planting Good Seeds" are so many ways to do it, but many of the good deeds must wait for the right opportunity to do it. For example: helping those who are sick, helping to make other's dream come true, help to cross the street for the blinds, etc. These opportunities are not always (everyday) exist. If you are resolute to change your fate, don't "Wait" for them to come, we must take initiative, non stop "Planting Good Seeds”; then, one can change one's fate quickly.
Then, how we choose "Good Deed" which can be done oftenly without spending any money or spending only little amount of money and gaining great result? Couples of these methods below are very easy to do and save money.
1. Chant Mantra/Sutra
This maybe the best way without spending any money, the rich and the poor will be able to do it. But must “Believe and Determined" Chanting Sutra and Mantra must be full of trust and honesty, most importantly, must be for long period of time, not knowing tired and broken in the middle of the road; then, one will surely succeed, the more one chant Sutra or Mantra the bigger the result. Sutra or Mantra is like Budha's boat to deliver devotees, chanting Sutra or Mantra means aboard the boat, so one can reach to the other shore.
The power of Sutra is formless, if one chants it for very long time, can cleanse out one's sins, if chanting for others for long period of time, can cleanse out other's sins, and so that they will beget happiness. The power of mantra/sutra can avoid all kinds of disasters and calamities also illnesses and sufferings can also change the bad fate becoming open wide road.
With all kinds of Sutras and Mantras, which are most of them containing the vows and promises of Budhas and Gods, as long as the devotee sincerely and honestly chant, gradually there will be a contact, Budhas and Gods according to their promises and vows will fulfill the devotee's wishes.
For example, Sutra Kwan Se Im Po Sat, TA PEI CHOU (MAHA KHARUNA DHARANI) has ever vows in front of Budha Gautama: "If whoever chants this Sutra and falls in the three lower Realms, I vow not to attain Budhahood.
If whoever chants this Sutra and one's fait is lacking, I vow not to attain Budhahood.
If whoever chants this Sutra and not gaining Panna, I wow not to attain Budhahood,."
If whoever chants this sutra and all this life wishes are not come to reality, I vow not to attain Budhahood" It's clear that the vows and promises of Kwan Se Im Po Sat for this Sutra is not light.
Another example, in one meeting in the park, Shakyamuni feel compassionate for how heavy the sins of the devotees and lower beings, easily plunged into sins and immoral things in their future lifes, therefore Shakyamuini expounds Keng Fo Mu Cun This Seng Chou. For those who chant it everyday wholeheartedly, for 100x or more, gradually will be avoided from disasters, will gain more fortune and longevity. For those who everyday chant it more than 100 times, every 49 days, Bodhisattva will orders two angels to protect Sadhaka wherever they go, so that they will be avoided from all kinds o of disasters and calamities . If chanting is completed in 900,000 times, will be able to cleanse all five sins and ten evils.
Also in the mantra of Seven Budhas Cleanse Out Karma. Created by Shakyamuni to cleanse out the heavy sins of the students done in the past or the present, so that whoever chants this mantra will be able to cleanse out their sins, avoided form all kinds of "bad karma causing bad retributions"
The power of this mantra is really extraordinary, all kinds of human's life difficulties, actually sourced on the situation having planted "seeds of negative karmas", and receiving their retributions. Whereas the power of the mantra will be able to cleanse out all cyclic “Bad Seeds", so that automatically will change bad fate into good. This is among one of the other ways to resolve the problems thoroughly.
The best way to chant mantra/Sutra is early in the morning after shower, lit incense and start chanting(before eating). For those who worship Gods and Budhas in the house, can lit incense and kneel down chanting. If one does not worship any, can choose a clean place, where one can kneel down and chant, but it's best to go to closest temple.
Those who chant Mantra/Sutras are best not to consume meat. It’s best every lunar month of 11 and 15 to be vegetarian or every month in ten days( every 1,8,14,15,18,23,24,28,29,30 lunar days) to be vegetarian. If then month is short, one can change to day 27th, or every six days in the month (every 8,14,15,23,29,30), if it is a short month, one can replace it with 28th.
To those who chant Mantra or Sutra can choose one or two Mantras/Sutras (Keng) for long period of time, don't be greedy taking all Keng. The Sadhaka must chant it with calm heart and patient, both hands clasped, close eyes and concentrate, not too fast, chant with slow sound, can chant by heart, chanting and listen and carve every word in the heart, reaching "Out of mouth, enter ears and carved into the heart". Gradually the power of Keng will be carved into the heart, soon one will get the response. Finishing recitation, our energy increase, our heart is full of love and compassion, our inner self feels a lot brighter.
It’s important that in chanting Keng, must throw away all not important thoughts. It's true that in the beginning, it's difficult to concentrate, many disturbing thoughts. Must be step by step practice, gradually will attain words and heart united. If "There is mouth without heart" or "Mouth and heart are not united", this way of chanting, even until one's throat is dried up, it's still useless.
2. Setting Free Lifes
Besides chanting Keng, setting fee lifes is also a good way to accumulate merits and good deeds. Humans in this world to have good dinners, try to kill as many animals as they can. In just HK, everyday all kinds of animals are slayed in the kitchen and the butcher of not less than one millions, from lambs, pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, birds, shrimps, crabs, sea fishes, clams, snakes, turtles, etc. Until the whole HK is filed with energy of killing and revenge, spirits and grudge energy from these animals, gradually increases and accumulated, unknowingly will invites disaster to humans. The Grand Master Yun yin Tan She in his poem of not to kill: “If one wants to know the war in the world, listen to the sound of the door of slaughterhouse in the middle of the night."
It's clear here that human everyday committing sins. Doctors nowadays have proven that consuming too many meats will beget all kinds of illnesses, especially eating too many sea foods, will suffer from all kinds of strange illnesses difficult to be cured. All these facts are the results of
years of research, what lies in the meat are all kinds of invisible karma, there are still so many things unable to be proven by science. In society stressing on the importance of worldly pleasure, generally people have lost their common sense. These are part of human's life which is pitiful and saddening.
But if one can take a closer look at humans at this view, you will gradually realize and remember that animals also have spirits and physical body, why humans have to eat the flesh of the weak forcibly? Is it true that they are borned to be slaughtered by humans? Don't they deserve to live freely as part of nature? Without consuming blood and flesh, can human survive? So is it true that humans “The leader of all living beings" are borned with this cruel attitude?
The sufferings experienced by the animals being slaughtered, is enough to prove their grave revenge toward humans, it also depicts the cruelty of humans. On contrary, if there is somebody who can set them free from their slaughter, giving a path to live, surely their heart will be thankful, this is also shows compassion. Because of this, people who accumulate good deeds would have done this "SETTING FREE LIFES"
Setting free lifes not only have given opportunities for the animals to escape from the death, this also means has given a new way for them "Facing death encounter new life". Viewed from the perspective of cleanse out sins and planting good seeds. This hidden virtue is immeasurable especially for those who are suffering from acute illness who often pray begging for recovery. It's really important.
Some things need to be looked at here in releasing lifes. For example for beings live in salty water must be released in the sea, for the beings live in the fresh water must be released to the rivers, birds must be released in the forest so that they will be back to their habitat.
To set free lifes, it’s best to choose fishes from the sea/river, birds, etc. Must often do it, scheduled continuously or promise every month to set free certain number of lifes for one vow, not restricted with time, the sooner the better. Finishing one vow followed by others, just like what Yuen Liao Fan did.
Setting free lifes doesn’t need to spend so much money. If one is really poor, one can do it step by step, everyday save 3 yens or 4 yens; then, every month can save about 150 yens, but the money must be used as originally planned, must be determined.
3. Promises Not to Eat Meat or Become Vegetarian.
This is also a way to accumulate good deed without spending any money. But in HK not everybody can do this. This must be seen from different jobs they have and each and everyone’s situations, must see the power of promises and the purpose of our promises.
Vow not to eat meat may not be followed forever; one can set the time span or base it on our own situations and conditions. Some 100 days, some six months, one year, 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, etc. Must be seen also the power of our vow and the purpose of our vow. For example for those who encounter difficulties to find life’s partner, can make a vow based on one’s own desire, between 2 to 3 years, with this merit will surely beget a good partner.
For those who often fail in business, doing this for three to five years will beget smoother business and stabile. For those who vow not to eat meat, it’s best to come by themselves to the closest temple. But first, one must cleanse oneself, sincerely and piously kneels down in front of Budhas and vows with a wish. There is no need for a written vow, but sincere heart will move the heart of Budhas.
For those who vow must be really doing it, what one has said must be followed with action. If one breaks it, it will be a big sin. For those who vow, prohibited to kill, prohibited to make a vow wishing for improper wishes. For example, for those begging for partner, prohibited from asking a second wife, for those who ask for a good business, prohibited from wishing to be a very wealthy person, it’s even more prohibited to ask for fortunes from gambling.
4. Directly Help Orphans
Even though this will make one has to donate money, but it doesn’t mean that one has to spend so much money on it, one should donate as one can afford. We often see news in the newspapers which often ask for the readers to donate money for those victims of natural disasters, etc. Or helping the handicapped who are lonely, and they have to beg on the street. Or those who are in serious sickness without any family members, in sickness and suffering, one must help them.
Pitiful things like above can be encountered everywhere, for those who have sympathetic heart surely will sympathize and pity. Therefore, there are no little amount of people who are moved by it and collecting donations thru newspapers to be given to the hands of those who in need. Those people are planting a field of good seeds, planting good seeds for their own future.
Just like mentioned before, good deed is not measured by how much “Money” you have contributed, but from individual’s sincerity. So it must be adjusted as one can afford, as long as the giver will give on every opportunities arises, the merit will be great.
If possible, directly give the contributions to those needs it. Watching directly their state will be easier to touch our heart, accumulating compassion heart; this is the heart of the Budhas. Doing good deeds is better not to mention our name, we perform good deeds without hoping of anything in return so that the receiver will not have to remember the giver in heart, and the merit will be even greater. This is what is called: “Formless Good Deeds”.
5. Visiting Old Folks Home
This should be done by many people, each donates some amount of money as they can afford, then together buy foods like: fruits, cake, milk powder, day to day stuff, etc. Then, bring them to old folk’s home to be distributed to the old people.
Generally, the old people in the old folks home are lonely, some have illnesses, one can imagine how lonely is their heart and their sad heart. They need warm, love and attentions. Due to their physical disability, they are not as agile as before; even find difficulties in walking, clothing, eating and drinking; some even wear clothe inside out and not neat, need other’s help; even drinking, the water will drop from the side of their mouth and wet their clothe. Especially the lonely hearts accompanied with sadness need much more attentions and entertainment. So visiting and take closer look at old folks home is really a great merit, will plant immeasurable good seeds.
If you have ever visited old folk’s home, you see how they with very slow walk and shaking hands also tears, they will accept the gift with their two wrinkled hands and submissive forced smile on their faces. Some with their shaky hands peel off fruits and put the fruits inside their toothless mouth. Seeing these happy and touching moments, besides together happy with them, you can understand how big is the merit that you have planted.
6. Visiting Orphanage House
This can be done by ourselves or together with others. Things brought can be anything from foods, toys, clothes, books etc. Then, distribute them among the children.
The orphans have lost love and parental care, not getting mother’s love, home. They have suffered enough as children without love and care, inside their heart is an unerasable wound forever what they are experiencing are great disaster in human’s life, they need warmth of a mother, their heart need happiness also education.
With little amount of donation and “Love”, we make them gaining warmth needed by them, unknowingly we have planted good seeds. Isn’t that receiving their laughter and happiness are the prove of planting good seeds?
7. Donating by Printing out Sutra/Mantra and other Dharma Books
Dharma book and other Sutra/Mantra are kind of boat of love that will deliver humans from the sea of sufferings provided by Bodhisattvas. Encouraging the distributions of Keng and other Dharma books mean spreading the compassion heart of Budhas. The merit is immeasurable. So by printing out Keng and other Dharma books are kind of one of the many best ways to plant a field of good seeds.
Karma from distributing widely Keng and other Dharma books can control the wicked actions of others, transforming the bad people to the correct path, decreasing the number of evils in the community also will encourage people to make friends, be patient and give in to each others, adding the sprit of good deeds in the community.
Because of this, people who intend to do good deeds will not miss this very good opportunity. The number of copies matched with one’s financial ability, but all of these are not measured by big or small quantity of money that has been given out, but from the “Sincerity of the Heart” as the measurement. What kind of heart is it? It is: “Compassionate Heart, Heart of Budhas”.
CHAPTER 7
WHY DOING GOOD DEEDS ENCOUNTER KARMA WHICH ARE NOT ACCORDING TO WHAT HAVE BEEN DONE.
I have some friend, who often help others, spend money and energy without anything in return, but for everyone he has helped; soon or later they will turn into becoming his enemy. After gaining benefit, those helped by him not thankful to him and give something in return to him, on contrary, they are not satisfied, hate, and disappointed with him. Couple of these friends often ask me: “What is the cause of all these?”, “Why ”Good Deeds” not repaid with goodness?”
Budha ever speaks: “Plant squash, pick squash; plant nuts, pick nuts!” Now receiving hatred and revenge from others; surely in the past committing too many hatred and revenge toward others. Now, diligent in helping others, means have planted good seeds for future, this is a good karma. But don’t think that we have planted good seeds or give alms and have helped others, then; we want to gain something from it, these kinds of thinking is “wrong”. The wise in the old days have ever said: “Helping others must not expect something in return”. Now you have planted good deeds, it means that you are planting good seeds, don’t ever think of when you will be repaid, Must be remembered that someday the karma will be received. There’s an old saying: “For those who are doing good deeds, bad things seems to come one’s way, but actually good things are getting closer to one. But for those doing bad deeds, good things seems to come one’s way, but actually bad things are approaching one and good things gradually distant from one.”
In the present time, beget so many hatred and revenge; surely in the past have planted: “Many hatred and revenge toward others”, surely will beget the karma accordingly. If the karma is exhausted means that the debt is fully paid; therefore, the good seeds that have been planted surely will fruit. “Doing good deeds do not beget goodness”, this also can see other forms.
I have a cousin opens three meat shops, diligently he try to gather some money. Then, after studying Budhism, he starts to believe of karmic laws. He realizes that opening meat shops is not good; therefore, he closes his meat shop and opens laundry shop and intends to cleanse out all his sins in the past, and the remaining capital to help his business partner. So, he really is going toward planting good seeds.
But after “Doing Good Deed Sincerely”, not long after, his partner swindles his money and run away. My cousin is really angry, he is almost going insane. He can’t stop thinking how is it possible that I have done good deeds wholeheartedly, how come doing good do not beget goodness? He will tell to everybody he meets: “In this world the good hearted people will not beget goodness, the money I’ve saved so hardly, and I use it too help my partner in fact I was cheated by him totally.” His revenge is deepened, always ask for Bodhisattva that his evil friend’s hands and feet will be punished, will receive his retributions right now.
In the beginning, I don’t pay much attention to the news. I am thinking that my cousin lack of understanding of the matter, and too cruel. But later at night, I samadhi suddenly there is something inside of me awaken that my cousin in the beginning has opened a meat shop, and have planted not little bad karma, he is destined in his old age and in the future will receive his retributions. Then, he is wholeheartedly study Budhism, sincerely give alms. This is Bodhisattva’s compassion direct him from bad into good. Push him to have partner with his friend who later cheat the money of somebody who is full of sins while in fact has taken away my cousin’s sins.
How compassion Bodhisattva is the money has been swindled my cousin should have been quickly confessing his past sins. Grateful to Budhas for not too late. Why, he is even begging for Budhas to punish that person? Isn’t that this will only add his sins? The writer also experiences similar experiences “Good Deeds Repaid with Bad Things Happened”.
Because the writer is really studying Budhism, besides sadhana in the house days and nights, also sadhana in the temple often, moreover, if there’s a ceremony in the temple and even try to chant Keng in the very front platform, only wishing for that the ceremony will be smooth, wishing for those present to be blessed by Budha’s protection and compassion, avoided from disaster, hoping that the country will be prosper, the citizen will be prosper also, wholeheartedly and sincerely.
But every time I follow the ceremony, for certain I will suffer from severe sickness, a very painful sickness, even bleed many for days. This is symptoms have been experienced for six to seven years. This is really unpleasurable experiences. Because so “Experienced”, every time after the ceremony, soon will prepare myself to fall sick, my calculation never missed, not until three days after the ceremony surely the writer will fall sick.
My cousin and couple of my friends say to me that: ”Doing good deeds but not getting goodness in return”. Their reason is that because I promise with good heart sincerely, and earnestly, it’s right if I shouldn’t have experienced those sicknesses, no reason why I experience even greater pains, doesn’t it mean that good deeds not repaid with goodness? Bodhisattva is not efficacious? Some say that I am being punished by Bodhisattva. Some one says that I have known that I will get sick every time after the ceremony, but insist on following the ceremony isn’t it called “Looking for Sickness”.
Actually, what they are saying are not true, not good deeds not repaid with goodness, not also Bodhisattva is not efficacious, and moreover, Bodhisattva is punishing me what’s really the matter? Only I the only one who knows it that I have actually received the compassion of Buddha. Because at my young age, unknowing of Karmic Law, I killed so many birds, I have created so many karma. According to the law cause and effect, it should be that I receive Karma ”Short Life” or “Punished in Hell” or “Die in Sickness”. But, I realize on that time, regretfully, I beg for forgiveness in front of Budhas, wholeheartedly study Buddhism and teach others, chant Keng or set free lifes. For years continuously only wish to cleanse out my sins and not to be punished later in hell.
Final result of my work, I beget Budha’s compassion for the last couple of years, I have been saved form disasters couple of times, big problems but don’t up to die. And next, I receive a divine message from Buddha….” Longevity and evaded form disasters” For me, I am really grateful for the Budha’s great good deeds toward me, and gradually can comprehend some meaning of Buddha’s saving devotees (sadhaka). Is it really true? “People, who have good intentions, will for sure protected by above”.
And my sins “Killing living beings” is really heavy, it’s really not easy to cleanse all out, just like said: “Blood for blood”, surely, I will suffer from pains and sickness, this debts soon or later have to be paid. The sooner the better, so that I will not suffer later in my old fragile age. Moreover, I have to pay the contributions in hell or in the next cycle of life. Therefore, Buddha have shown his compassion toward me, every time I follow the ceremony surely I will beget Buddha’s compassion, not only cleanse out my sins, even making me to pay he karmic retributions, earlier. Because of these, every ceremony, not up to three days, surely I will fall sick, after going on for six to seven years, these symptoms gradually disappear. The situations now are different, every time following the ceremony not only not gets sick, my body feels much more energetic, this surely due to the blessings of Budhas.
CHAPTER 8
REVELATIONS OF SOME REAL LIFE EXAMPLE HAPPENED TO THOSE WHO HAVE CHANGED THEIR PREDESTINED FATE
Want to change fate, easier to say than done. Even though one realizes the cause and effects, but to do it in real life is really difficult. Because one has to sacrifice, sacrifice time, energy, minds, money, etc. Moreover, one must do it continuously (non-stop); then, it will work. There’s not little number of people in the beginning have full of faith, but after certain time span, still not seeing anything; therefore, they are giving up. Doubts surface, even abandoning or aborting, they are rather to be enslaved by the fate, and then one “Just let Heaven’s Decide”
This is the problem of humans trying to take charge of their fate, meeting this problem, it even shows its superiority and how valuable it is.
Actually by having strong faith, strong determinations, high spirited, what ever the problem maybe, it’s not difficult for these kinds of people to change their fate. I will show couple of real life stories used as considerations.
A. With Strong Determinations and Desire, Humans as the Creator of Their Own Fate, Saving Failed Marriage and even Save Her Husband’s Life.
This happened about three years ago, on the very cloudy evening in my consultation room plenty of guests, among them, there is a young mother who’s quite tall, her face seems quite murky, she sits on the corner doesn’t say any word.
When her turns up, she pushes the glass door and enter my room, she gives me a sheet of registration paper. I ask her to sit. I read the paper. Her name is Qong Siau Cen, she wants to ask about her marriage. Her handwriting is good. Just like always, I don’t ask much to my guests, she also don’t say any words; then, I carefully look at her fate.
Finished reading her fate, I say: “Your marriage is destroyed, can’t be helped any longer.”
Her eyes are reddened, but remain calm and slowly she asks, “What are the causes?”
“According to my divination, the problem lies in you, your nature is harsh and hot tempered, also you are the one who wants this divorce.”
She nods and admits that she is the one that want the divorce. She admits that her nature is hot tempered, often angry to her husband. Now, they live on separate houses, and she lives back with her mother for three months. She really regrets it. She wants to reconcile but both are too arrogant to admit it. She doesn’t dare to take the initiative, she also afraid if her husband or people in the house don’t want them to be back together; therefore, she is coming for consultation, asking whether the marriage still can be saved.
Hearing her story, I am quite moved, I read her Peh Ji, and she is actually destined to hurt her husband. Based on this reading, if her husband does not divorce her, he will die. I can only sigh and shake my head back and forth; it’s very difficult to help her.
Usually people will leave, but she insists on sitting and asks me: “Is there a way to change my fate?” This is the most frequent question asked by most people, like always, I reply: ”Want to change one’s fate by human’s effort is really difficult. One in thousands maybe not succeed, it’s easier to say than done.”
My heart say: ”Just give it up”
Unexpectedly, her eyes stared at me and she look at me and say: “As long as there is still a way, how difficult it is, I will do it, Please tell me.“
“I think you are just being driven by momentary emotions, maybe you don’t have strong determinations”, and then, I say: “There is a way, but you have to be done continuously without stop.”
“How long exactly?” she asks.
“You don’t have to ask how long, you must have faith, do it as much as you can, until the desire is attained.” I reply.
“Alright, I’ll do the best I can”, she replies.
Then, I explain to her about the law cause and effect. Principally what you have planted, you will pick that fruit, then, I advise her to chant Kau Wang Kwan Se Im Cen Cing 1000 times, after she gets rid of a little of her revenge, she can talk to me again in the future.
After passing two months, she comes to me again, says, “I have chanted it for 800 times, there’s no change in our relationship, but there’s a good news in my working place. Usually I am not at peace with my co-worker, there are so many devious people, even my boss is not good with me, after chanting this sutra now my co workers are good to me, so as my boss, it’s a miracle.”
I explain to her, it’s really no strange, it’s the merit of chanting sutra, have started to cleanse out her revenge karma little by little, whereas revenge karma in the marriage is heavy. Next, she officially starts “The long journey to save her marriage”.
In one year, not little sutra that have been studied by her, non-stop everyday chants. Uncountable, also starts to get to know other housewifes. If there is time, goes to temple to chant Keng, participate in social work, often visit the old folk’s home, sadhana for the benefit of others, often set free lifes. In principal, as long as there’s an opportunity to do good deeds, surely, she will do it. But she still has not gotten any reaction from her husband. She grows impatient, doubts surround her heart, but her friends in group chanting give her encouragement, so that she keeps on going.
One of her family member learned a story that her husband fails in his business, no longer a boss, but he becomes a high ranked staff in a big company, and often flies out of cities in his job, rarely in HK. Luckily, he has not met any new partner. She keeps on going again.
About half year later, in one night, she receives a phone call from her family, Even though, he failed in his business, her husband still misses her, has ever asked around for her recent condition. This is a good news. She realizes that her efforts are not useless. Then, she is even more diligent.
About a month later, she receives her first call from her husband. They start over their first date since the separation. It’s really not easy. Since then, they start dating couple of times, forgive each other’s faults, distance between them are closer; therefore, miss Wang take initiatives to take back her divorce in court, both husband and wife back together again. Her friends congratulate them and glad that she made it. But the story doesn’t end here, just when both of them are rejoined back together, there’s a news that her husband suffer cancer illness, and thru checks up from different well known hospitals, his illness has reached critical stage, this really surely hit them hard. Their friends sense their trouble. “Is my fate really this bad?” Miss Wang looks for me again. I am not surprised with her life’s tragedy.
I say: “According to your Peh Ji, the reading explains that if not divorced, your husband will die. I’ve said to you before. Now upon reconciliation meeting this unexpected disaster, this proves that you have not totally changed your fate, your effort for this one year and more only beget the half.”
Then what should I do then?” she asks.
I say: “In half year you have chanted so many Keng, have done many good deeds begging to Bodhisattvas for countless of times. After trying so difficult, you have regained your marriage. This karma shows that I don’t lie to you. It clearly shows: this is the one and only way. It’s best if you can try even harder,..”
“The problem is now urgency, I can not just sit and do nothing, and I can not spend another one or two years because his illness, he won’t live that long”, she said hurrily.
I think for a while, I reply, ”Now, the problem lies in humans effort, you can first ask Bodhisattva, because the problem is very urgent, you must vow in front of Bodhisattva sincerely, begging for Bodhisattva’s compassion; then, act according to the vow. Need to know that vow must be from sincere heart act on it according to our own utmost ability and as soon as possible. Vow must has good intentions. If it’s too high sounded, and if you are unable to complete it, it’s the same as lying to Bodhisattva, this even increase our negative karma. So you try to decide on your own about the vow.” After hearing my explanations she left without anything to say.
The next very earliest morning, she kneels down in front of Bodhisattvas and gives her vow. She vows to do good deeds for the rest of her life, helping others, begging so that Bodhisattva will spare his life. Upon taking a vow she reads it from her vow in a sheet of paper, her tears rolled down on the most saddened part, her sincerity is clear enough. Besides this, she also encourage her husband to have faith in finding the cure, also she is even more diligent in chanting Keng, and every morning really facing Bodhisattva to pray, half an hour later goes to work. At night, chant Keng in the house, and doing good deeds even harder.
But the problem is still on the peak. A group of international class doctors, they concluded thru diagnosis that her husband can’t be helped anymore. Many people sigh and shake their head back and forth hearing this news; they say Bodhisattva is not efficacious anymore. Pity Mrs. Wang, all her efforts are a waste. This is really a big trial to the faith. But Mrs. Wang keeps her faith, work harder, she still has to bear the pressures from her mother, she must bear others, and the single minded strong resolution is the main factor to her success.
Fortunately, in this critical time, there is a news that a top cancer expert in the world visit HK. Therefore, with all kinds of ways and connections, she tries to meet the doctor. After working very hard; finally, she can meet the doctor. After examining her husband carefully, doctor states that there’s still a way to save her husband and will be done all by the specialist Doctor alone.
This is Budha’s blessing for the sincere heart of Mrs. Wang how great is the compassion of Buddha’s. Because of the specialist Doctor, her husband’s life is saved. Mrs. Wang is very touched by Buddha’s compassion, also by her chanting friends. Then how can she repay Budha’s kindness? The best way is to “Do good deeds unceasingly”. Truly commit to her vow: “Helping others who need help and do good deeds for the rest of her life”.
This real life story ends here. Mrs. Wang now is a really happy person, her husband illness has been cured, and her business runs smoothly. Her experience from the beginning till the end takes about three years, and the incident has changed her perspective of life completely. Now, everyday, she keeps her promises, keeps on doing good deeds.
B. A Story About Taking Back One’s Own Life From the God of Death
Four years ago, a young man visited my consultation place. He is very skinny, pale faced, his eye balls almost comes out but looks weak. Soon right after stepping onto my office, he sits on the couch gasping for breath, not a word comes out of his mouth. I think this person should see a doctor, not to go to consultation place; could it be he gets the wrong address?
After long time, then he gets up and sits on the chair in front of my consultation table. He starts to speak, but I only can see his lips moving without being able to hear anything. I put my ears closer to him; then, I start to hear his low volume voice. Oh, He is really someone need to be sympathized and pitied. I really very sympathize him.
He soon realizes that I can not hear his voice; then, he picks up a pen and paper and writes what he wants. First, he wants to ask about the “Condition of his Sickness”. Sincerely, I pray and read his sickness, the result of my divination is that his illnesses really acute and dangerous, his life is very difficult to be saved, but I don’t’ dare to say it to him and only say that it takes long time and meticulously taking the medicine. Hearing my words, he nodded his head understanding, then, the writes again.
Apparently his name is Chang Sew Ming. Two years ago he is still a very young and healthy and energetic. One day he went with his friend to know his fate to one of the well known fortune teller, right after look at him, the fortune teller tells him that he will not live more than three years. That time he doesn’t believe in him and doesn’t pay attention to what the fortune teller words. Unexpectedly, no long after, he gets strange illness, doctor says it’s bronchitis, sin she says that his immune system in his body is damaged. On the beginning, he felt difficulties to breathe after exercising, all kinds of medicines are useless, and his illness gets worst quickly, even without exercising, he will gasp for breath. His body gets thinner very quickly, his eyes sunk, and in couple of months he looks like a grandfather.
Neither a doctor nor traditional doctors can cure him. All kinds of medications or medicines are useless, together with this his economy also suffers greatly as his illness gets worst, it seems that he is just waiting for his time.
Facing this illness, he remembers what the fortune teller said. He starts to believe in divination, therefore, he gives his Peh Ji (day and time of birth) to fortune tellers, all of them read that he will not be able to make it passing this year. In this desperate time, it’s very difficult to depict how sad his heart is. He is ready to, in a very near future, go to an empty island to die, so that his family doesn’t have to spend so much money on funeral. Luckily, he overheard a radio fortune teller session channel in which I am the speaker. I talked about how to change one’s fate and law of Karma. This cause him want to ask some questions, after looking for my address, he comes to visit me.
I see him while writing his brief history, tears rolled down his cheeks, this causes my deepest sympathy and compassion, unknowingly my heart cries. Unexpectedly, I remember Ken Ta Pei To Lo Ni, states: “Many sadhaka often meet obstacles of heavy sins, don’t see Budha, don’t see the path, only following life and death, don’t know the secret, now I know it, but burdened by the same karma….” So is how people in this world live.
He starts to ask me, his first question: “After death, are all things forgiven and forgotten for humans?” Seriously, I answer: “In the world and universe, there is no such thing that easy right? If one commits heavy sins, killing, burning, robbing, raping, cheat money, etc., enjoy them, when the time is upon and die, if all of them are forgiven and forgotten, is Heaven fair? Formless karma for common people like us, it’s difficult for us to see. Try to see is there any rich people by swindling other’s money will end up good? Will their children be prosperous? As long as one takes closer look at surroundings wherever you are, there will be: “Karma right in front of our eyes”. People dead or alive will beget their “Karmic law “Justice.
“If one not committing good or bad, then, commit suicide will be sinful?”
“Generally those who desperate and kill oneself, their sins is great. Somebody is borned because of mother and father, borned alive because of Heaven and Earth, committing suicide is not only against mother and father. It also betrays the Mother Nature. The sin is great. The second reason is that everybody has Buddha Nature. If one develops this Buddha Nature surely he will be Budha. Committing suicide means cutting off the development of Buddha Nature, same as killing a Buddha, the sins is grave and great. So whoever commit suicide surely will beget bad karma justice, will beget very pitiful punishment in hell. Except for special reason, sacrifice for the country, defending the virginity of a women, committing suicide this sort are not sinful, in fact it’s morally correct!”
By conversing with him, I explain the principal of Karmic Law and ways to change one’s fate, and advise him not to be too pessimistic, don’t die, don’t also waiting for death, must build faith and determination, actively cleaning out our sins which have been done in the past, this is the way to settle things out thoroughly
“My life remains very little amount of time, is it not too late for me?” he asks.
“Too late or not as long as one still breathe, must really work hard, after understanding, can’t waste anymore time.” I say.
Slowly he stands up, his face is pale and forcibly smiling, his hands skinny extended and shake my hands. Then, he leaves.
About ten days later, I receive a letter from him; mainly he is grateful for my advices so that his heart is opened. He starts to gain faith to move one; he starts to pray to Buddha. Because it’s not possible for him to set up an altar, visually he forms a Buddha Image, worshipping and respecting visually (because if he exercises or move just a little he will gasp for breath). I teach him Keng Liu Ce Ta Ming, he can only chant it by heart, sometimes this can cause him gasp for breath. Then, visually, he visualizes the letter of Keng, he tries as much as he can. Even though, I really worry for him, because no matter how hard he tries, only gaining little merit, whereas his sins are so great.
In a blink of an eye, half year has passed, one day, he looks for me again, his steps are still slow, his face remains pale
“How is it ? Any improvement ?” I ask him carefully.
Only shake his head and furrowed his eyebrow, surely he is frustrated. His sins is so grave, whereas “Good deeds” done are collected only little by little. This is like bringing down a huge tree by only using a small knife. Half year doesn’t bring any result. Then I advise him to keep on with his effort, and teach him to repent and vow in front of Budhas. He also have studied Budhist books.
He knows the meaning of “Repent” and “Vow”. Then he goes to the temple, kneels down in front of Buddha’s and states his vow: “If I am cured I will spread Budha Dharma to the best that I can.” Since then, he is even more diligent in Studying Buddha Dharma. Without realizing it, many months have passed, I see him again. He tells me that even though his condition is not improved, but he realizes that his illness in this half year doesn’t get worst. Medicine from the traditional doctor gives result. I advise him to keep on trying.
In this condition, one year and more have passed, slowly his voice can be heard clearly, he walks faster, and his medicines are even more potent. His faith is thickened; he is even more diligent in sadhana. Many days have passed couple of months later, I meet him again, I see radiant in his face, his eyes are energetic, and he can speak for long time with others. He is even more diligent days by days. Transportation money given by his mother and father largely used to set free lifes. His sadhana friends looking at him so poor, they donate the money for his medications, Unknowingly, used to set free lifes, he says: “I may not drink medicine, but accumulating good deeds may not stop, drinking medicine only cure the outside, whereas doing good deeds curing the root.” He fully realizes this; it’s really a great progress.
On the beginning of last year, his face stars to get fresh red, he is a little bit fatter, even though still under medications, but he is much better since the first time I saw him till now four year s have passed. He doesn’t die because of his illness get worst, in fact, he gets healthier. We are glad for him and grateful for his condition. He himself for the past four years everyday non-stop chanting Keng. Without strong Faith and Determinations these will not be possible. Budha’s love and compassion must be received with strong faith and determinations. I wish that Cang Sew Ming will soon be able to fulfill his vow: “Try his best to spread Buddha Dharma.”
C. A Story of Someone Who Lacks of Determinations Stop in the Middle of the Way
Among my students, there is a female student by the name of Chaung Siau Jiu. One night, during the break, she meets me in the living room.
“Mr. Liu, do you have spare time to read my fate?“ she asks.
“Is there anything out of ordinary?” I ask back.
“There is some important business, I beg for your help.” she replies hurrily.
“I don’t have time today, let me schedule some other time.” I reply.
On the appointed time, she comes with her boyfriend to my consultation room.
“A year ago, I suffer a strange illness. My left ear suddenly can’t hear anything (deaf, not a sound can be heard) Doctors have examined couple of times without any result, because there’s nothing wrong with my ear drum, but I can’t hear anything.”
“What would you read of?”
“This is really strange; I want you to read for me what is really wrong with me?”
Then, I read her fate, the result of the reading clearly direct to the cause of the strange illness. Apparently, a year ago, she has done something foolish which have broken the moral and virtue at the field close to the rice field. In the middle of the night where the Im energy is very strong, so she gets negative Im, this is the first, the second; she has abortion, this even break her moral and virtue. Her Im energy is penetrating even deeper and making her deaf.
The result of my reading making me silent for a while, because the nature of the matter is very secretive, how should I start? Disclosing other’s secret is not the thing that usually done by high moral person, but if I don’t say it at all, how can I make her realize her mistakes? After silent for quite long time, I decide to tell her and hoping that she will soon realize her mistakes.
“Miss Chen, I’ll tell you the result of my reading, I hope that you won’t be too embarrassed” I say
“Mr. Liu, please tell me as it is, I won’t mind.” she impatiently replies while bulging her eyes out.
“I hope you will find a way to overcome it somehow, if not just hear what I want to say.”
“The reading tells me that you have ever had an abortion, is this true?”
“Oh… so that is what the divination says.” She is even more surprised and her eyes bulged even wider.
“That’s right that is what the divination tells me.” I say silently.
She lowers her head and her eyes staring at the floor, her face is reddened, soon later, she rise up her head and say: “Honestly, I have done that, but that has anything to do with my being deaf?”
“It is said here that you have broken the moral and virtue, have ever had an abortion, this causes a new Im energy coming in. If there is a cause, there will be effects, this is the cause of your illness.”, but I reply slowly.
“Is there still a way to help me? I really need your help here.” She starts to beg.
“I myself can’t help you. If you believe in Buddha, why don’t you ask Bodhisattvas to help you?” I answer.
“I have done that all, Oh Budha, ask for Ciam Si, fortune teller, have taken many charm papers, they don’t work.”
“What the fortune tellers have said?” I ask confused.
“Each has different answers, some say that I have done wrong toward the God. Some say that it’s my fate and even some say that while I pass a village, passing a river, my shadow was caught by the water demon, so my soul is imprisoned, But none ever tells me that I have ever had an abortion.”
“Do you believe in my divination?” I ask.
“You’ve said it correctly, I believe you. Please Mr. Liu, I really beg for your help.”
“Rather than begging for help from others, better if you beg for help from yourself first. You need to beg for Bodhisattvas help in your heart, this is more important than anything else.”
“How to do it? Please advise me. Does it mean burning incense everyday and pray?”
“It’s not that easy”
“Then how is it? Please give me direction….”
“I’ll teach you how to chant a Keng, everyday and every opportunity walking, sitting and sleeping, you can chant it, can’t stop, in months, years, in very long time. Do you have this kind of determinations?” I ask.
“I can do it” finally she replies. Then, I tech her as short Keng, especially used to cleanse away sins and get rid of bad things. Due to she has ever had an abortion. So she has broken the moral and virtue. I tell her to set free lifes and try to do it as many as she can. She agrees to it. Besides this, in front of Buddha’s altar in my own home, every time I’ve finished chanting Keng, surely I will chant Keng voluntarily begging for Budha’s compassion to help her.
In the first month, she has really ever released animals twice and chants Keng. About two months later, she calls me: “Why there’s still no result?”
I reply, “Didn’t I say to do it everyday without halt, walking, sitting, or sleeping for months, even years. You must be determined to succeed.”
Passing another month, she call me again, “ Mr. Lieu, in this world there are so many people abort babies so many times, whereas I just do it once, and I’ve received my retributions already?”
I say, “Abortion surely will beget karmic retribution; the question is sooner or later. There are other factors.”
“What other factors?” she asks.
“…..” I don’t have anything else to say.
I have expected that she is not patient anymore, I ask her, “How is it now?”
“Not succeeding yet”, she replies.
“Do you still keep on chanting Keng in the past couple of months?” I ask.
“Sometimes, I chant some words”, she replies.
Oh Budha !, “Sometimes some sentences”. This shows that: “Heart isn’t determined” How is it should work?
Clearly, that she has stopped for couple of months. If it is like this, I’ve wasted my effort every night pray and chant Keng toward helping her. Ten Thousands ways comes form the heart, if one is sincere surely, will move God’s heart. She has been long not serious, no determination, how can she move Buddha’s heart to help her? Silently, I pack back the Buddha’s altar, pack backs all the stuff I use to chant Keng, especially I setup for her. This has passed for one year. Miss Chen’s left ear still just like before. If one wants to change one’s fate, want to cleanse out bad karma, it’s easier to say than done.
But if one lacks of faith and strong determinations for long period of time. Finally one just “give in” and let the fate take control of one’s fate, there is no way out.
D. A Story of Receiving Blessings Due to Doing Good Deeds Setting Free Lifes
My place of consultation is also some kind of small temple. Since Spring 1981, often opens for ceremony to set free lifes (Satwamocana), participated by my students and my friends, they are all devoted Buddhist. Upon and during the ceremony, they are all together and don’t eat any meat, keeping the precepts strongly and purify themselves chanting mantra wholeheartedly, every ceremony is conducted seriously (stress on loves and compassion), so that the objective of repentation and cleaning out bad karma will be attained for themselves and others.
Satawamocana is really important ceremony. At least once a month, sometimes three to four times. I myself decide to take
Besides this, not little my Buddhist friends, some ask for fortunes, or longevity for their parents, often times, they give me money and ask me to set free lifes on behalf of their names. This is the reason why I am really considering and limit my helping them to set free lifes on their behalf. There are two reasons: First, accepting other’s money, there may be misunderstanding. To avoid people’s gossip, if that person is not somebody I know, I will not represent him to set free lifes (Society these days doesn’t have same good heart, representing others to do good deeds, must be careful, so that there will be no misunderstanding). Second, The small temple I have, the room is very small, the people come are plenty, where as those who helped me are not many, so I have to limit it. Moreover, I make the rule that all the animals no matter if there are birds, water creatures, that will be released must be bought at instant moment, can’t be pre ordered. This way, avoiding the sellers to order those animals long before the time from the suppliers so that the animals will not suffer to get caught.
The Satwamocana is as follow:
- Set all the animals that will be set free in front of Buddha’s altar nicely, first way of Michung (Tantrayana) begging for forgiveness in front of Buddhas for all the sins that have been done in the past (The animals in the present life are animals, those are due to in the past have committed too much sins, this is their bad karma), we chant the repentation Keng.
- Doing the four obedience for them, obedience to ancestors, Budhas, Dharma, and Sangha. The purpose if for them in the present life planting “Seeds of Budhahood”, so that in the future, will be free from animals form, and borned into human form , lean Buddha Dharma, keeping precepts, soon will grow “Buddha Nature” then grows in to “Budhahood”. We chant Keng “She Kwui Ie”.
3. Chant Kengs “Sang She Sin”, “Pai Che Ming Chou” so their sins will be cleansed out.
- Begging for Buddha’s compassion for them and use “Trilogy Mantra Water” to cleanse their bodies.
- Added chanting Keng “Ta Pei Chou (Maha Kharuna Dharani)” 21X, Keng “Setting Free Lifes” 7X, Keng “Past Lifes” 7X, altogether the merits are dedicated toward them.
After all ceremony are all over, they are all lifted on top of a vehicles to be carried out of towns and released. For the past 3 years these Satwamocana has never stopped my fellow Budhist friends who participate in these ceremonies beget blessings, protection from Buddhas. During the Satwamocana, some have been able to change their fate for the better, there are some beget blessings unexpectedly. There are some who set free lifes on behalf of their family members, those family members are avoided from disasters and saved on just getting terrible sickness but not death, all kinds of blessings, it’s really efficacious.
The more interesting thing is that fellow Dharma friends who set free lifes, they also beget a house with very good Feng Shui even their life’s journey turns brighter. First, a fellow Dharma friend who is our driver during the setting free lifes have bought a house with very good Feng Shui; then, he buys it and moves there, but because his new house is far from us; then, he doesn’t help us again. Second, Mr. Liem who is also fellow Buddhist friend, actually his life journey is full of obstacles, his business shows a yellow light, but every time there’s Satwamocana, he tries his best to donate, moreover, he chants “Ta Pei Chou” Keng everyday. Therefore, his fate is improved. Bodhisattva has blessed his life and business. What is more interesting in the love life, there’s a miracle, my friend’s life partner is a wealthy person, therefore my friend is rich also, my friend moves to a house with good Feng Shui, but because the house is far from us, gradually my friend doesn’t help us anymore. The third one is a fellow Dharma friend, who helps to drive the car during the setting free lifes, he has two daughters, he wants a boy, when his wife is pregnant, sincerely, he kneels down in front of Buddhas to repent for this past sins and mistakes, diligently do good deeds, begging Bodhisdhisattva to give him a son. While his wife is giving birth, apparently, it’s a boy. This makes him very happy. But the bad news comes, his house has bad Feng Shui, his debts are getting worst. Actually, he wants to move out, looking for a house with good Feng Shui, but he worries that the house rent is too high so that he is unable to pay.
Luckily not long after. The owner rises up the rent, meaning to evict him; therefore, everyday he begs to Bodhisattva so that he will get a house with good Feng Shui and he agrees with the owner of the house to leave soon. He has five family members in total. It’s not easy in HK to find a place to rent. Due to great burden, to accommodate all family members they have to think that the rent shouldn’t be too high, transport should be easy, and good Feng Shui, and has to get it at the right time, cant’ over the due date……… and…. Oh, there are too many requirements, ideally, it’s really too difficult!
Usually, he has to work; surely, there is no time to look for a house, whereas the due date is closing. His heart is restless, he can only beg for Bodhisattva’s help days and nights. Approximately, only one week left from the due date to move out, he has no other choice but to leave his job behind for a while, during the day he has to run around looking for a place totally. He has looked around for the house for the past four days, there is not little number of houses he has looked, none of them he likes. House with cheaper rent is very difficult to get moreover with good Feng Shui. Those couples of days are really tiring, every night; he is very fatigued, nervous and worried…..
But there is a miracle, unexpectedly; he gets a house match his desire. Complete house with there bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, bathroom, toilet, air conditionered, not need to fix the house and the rent is very cheap. When I have studied Buddhism for couple of years looking at my family’s fate. Such unfortunate, my heart knows that it is a working karma. To help them soon is only by begging to Buddhas. My ways of begging to Bodhisattvas is not like litting incense then bows to Buddhas couple of times and that’s it. But with full of faith and strong determination chanting Keng like ”Ta Pei Chou”, “Chi Fu Mie Cue Cen Yen”, “Kao Wang Kwang Ing Cen Cing”, etc. In the morning and at nights non-stop, also setting free lifes, printing holly books and other charities, I try my best.

That time, carefully, I read both my parents birth date and time of births, I find out that my father will die later this year. Because of this I am saddened, and I don’t dare to tell this to any one. In one time, I have dinner with a fortune teller, seeing me he is right away predicted, ”This year, there is one of your family member will die, the longest will not past in the middle of next year. I am very sure about his prediction, not only because it’s is exactly as I have predicted myself, but also correct as what an expert in fortune telling from mainland China has told me ten years ago. I can’t describe how sad I am. My heart says: “It’s finished, maybe that is the way it is (fate), I can’t help them any longer.”
But deep in my heart, I still have faith that begging for prosperity, begging for longevity all are human’s efforts, there’s not little examples set by people in the past so as the people in the present, as long as one is full of determination and faith, our heart wishes will be fulfilled. Then Sincerely I beg for forgiveness for my parents sins in front of Buddhas, besides every day chants Keng, I vow that within one year, I will set free 3000 birds. I beg that with this good deeds my parent’s life will be lengthen. I vow that I am willing to subtract 10 years of my own life to lengthen both of my parent’s life.
The promises I made must be taken into real actions, this is the trial time, but to do it is really difficult. To remember all the time, I write down my promises on a piece of paper and stick it on the place where I can easily see it in my room. With this, I can see it days and nights. I also use a used candy box to save five or ten yens everyday, especially for to set free lifes. Everyday I try my best to save and every month I spare my time to set free birds. I also write down the number of birds I’ve set free and the time. On the sheet of paper sticked on very visible place, I count from time to time how many times more needed so that I won’t forget.
In half year time, I’ve set free 3000 birds; my heart says that this is enough. But I think back, people live in this world, don’t know how many times have been reborned. In this cycle of births doesn’t know how many sins have been committed and all of these karma accumulated till the present time, so all kinds of calamities we are facing in this life are the results of karma that must be bear, this also happened on both of my parents, my young siblings and myself, all humans and animals, etc. How great the sins are indescribable; now, with my limited power, even if I set free lifes for the rest of my life, how much sins can be eradicated? How come just setting free 3000 birds feeling enough? Realizing this, I feel ashamed of myself; therefore, I continue setting free lifes until one year, I’ve set free 5000 birds, and I don’t stop setting fee lifes.
Two years passed, apparently I don’t experience any family members die, and both my parents are still alive and well. Actually my father undergoes small operation and recovered quickly. Apparently the wish of longevities fully realized, Maha compassionate Budha, From the start of chanting Keng for both of my parents up to present is four years, actually in this year summer a miracle happened. Both my parents are not only begetting longevity, they are also avoided from disasters and again prosperity. My parents and my younger siblings have passed thru their difficult times and sufferings gaining happiness and meeting together again. This is really manifestation of Buddha’s true Great Compassion. This clearly tells to all sadhaka about the truth: “To beget fortune, longevity, and avoided from calamities, to change unfortunate fate, only by holding on faith and self determination, diligently do good deeds, concern and planting good seeds.,
CHAPTER NINE
THE
Mantra "Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu" is specially chanted by Tantric sect. This mantra is very simple, the sadhana is also very simple but the result is incredible. It possesses amazing magical power.
Those who read this mantra will push back all demons and enemies, dissolve all kinds of magic spells, evade all disasters, subdue all kinds of demons and ghosts, get rid of all strange illnesses so as to attain tranquility. All wishes for fortune, age, love, offspring, intelligent, business, healing, change animosity into friendliness, court case into settlement, avoided from sudden traffic accidents, all wishes will be fulfilled and auspicious. Those who often chant this mantra will be protected and loved by dakinis and dakanas, will receive big blessing and safety, it's a great merit.
The ritual and how (no need for initiation blessing):
Put on altar "Rupang of Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu"(image or statue) and "Kung Lun"(empowered miror) for praying (one may just pray to rupang/image or just the kung lun. It's better the kung lun is printed on round glass with white ink, yellow colored edge). With drinking water, fresh flowers, and fruits.
During the chanting:
1. Wash one hand, lit incense and pay homage.
2. Chant:
"I beg for the present of "Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu"" (3x)
3. Chant one time:
"All Ju Lai transformed into Thien Mu. Pa San Kai, the dignified and The Great One", then bow.
4. Chant:
Hung Cing Kang Ting Si Ta We Shen Mu, Ji Jien Sou Shen Mu, Jien Mien Shen Mu, Pai Jien Wan Yen Shen Mu, Pu Erl Ce Yan, Ji Cung Siang Cing Kang Gwan Kwang Ta Shen Mu, Cu Cai San Cie Cung Wei,
Please let me ________________(your name) and all of those present, formless beings, ghosts who have form and all disasters, all eradicated. With Budha's and Bodhisattva's protection, all wishes will be fulfilled, bestowed with fortune, safety, and tranquility also health." (1x)
5. Chant 108 times: "Om Sa Erl Wa, Ta Tha Cia Ta, Unika, Setatapace, Hung Phe, Hung mama, Hung Hi, So Ha".
6. Chant:
"Wishing that all the sadhanas that have been chanted, soon will move Pai San Kai Mu bringing student avoided from all kinds of disasters." (bow 3x).
Usually if not at home, or on the boat or car or while working or picnic, one can chant. As long as chanting by heart, visualizing Fu Mu and chant: "Wishing for the present of Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu"" (3x), then, one can chant Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu mantra by heart for unlimited repetitions.
Chanting this mantra must be in faith and earnest, everyday, gradually one will see its great power. Writer has ever teached this to many people. There is one family where one by one the family member falls sick, for half year non stop, after being examined, apparently there's a malevolent spirit in the hose. After chanting this mantra for half month only, all family member do not fall sick at all. There’s someone who has trouble with his work mate, chanting this mantra for seven days changed into auspicious. There's somebody being threatened by somebody, afraid of being attacked, his energy is drained, his family representing him, chanting mantra, everyday drink the holy mantra water, finally there's no problem.
Tantric Budhist has special sadhana called "Sadhana Ta Pai San Kai Fo Mo Protecting the Country, Destroy the Disasters." Gather as many people as one can and set up altar mandala, sadhana for seven, twenty one, or forty nine days, this can make one area will not encounter disaster like typhoon, flood, fire, earthquake, epidemic, wars, etc. Making one's country and the people in peace.

The Real Story on the Efficacy of Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu

Actually, I have finished my writing on Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu, but surprisedly, there are so many of my friends and my guests soon after chanting this mantra encounter many miracles. These facts force me to write even more stories about the efficacy of this mantra, so that the people in this world understand the compassion of Budhas and the great merit to deliver all sentient beings liberated from the sea of sufferings.
But because I am so busy, there is no time left for me, the writing is delayed for three months. Then on spring 1985, I choose six stories among many others. I wish that everyone who read this book will be moved and contemplate deeper.
1. A Child with Winking Eye
There's a friend who is a director, he is an honest man. The first time he saw people pray to Buhdhas, he will laugh at them as being superstitious, later on, as he gets older and wiser, he realizes that Budhism is not "fake". Moreover, lately, there's an incident that makes him to believe in Budhism.
In 1983 around May, he moved to a new home located on the foot
But, there are strange things happened. At night, his son often has nightmares, often screams, so that he is less energic and his eyes keep on winking, then, his father bring him to see doctor. The result is negative; his eyes are not red, not itchy, and not swollen.
He started to think that the House Feng Sui is not good enough. Introduced by his friend, he explains it to me briefly about his son condition. I have already guessed. At the meeting times, I visit his new house. After I examine it, I am sure that before he enters his new house, there is an "evil spirit" already in it. All kinds of incidents, his son wink, awaken at
He says that he kind of guessed it already but not sure. Now, it is assured that it's done by the evil spirit. Then, “What should be done?"
I answer that I'll try my best to help him. Arriving at home, I chant, “Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu mantra" to the water, I beg to be empowered with Budha's light, couple more of magical power. then I ask him to drink the water to his son right after he is arriving at home. A week later, he calls me, apparently it works! His son is not winking anymore, his energy is back and he does not have nay more nightmares, I say that it needs to be observed some more, if there's no more problem, don't call me anymore.
After three months, he calls again, upon meeting face to face, he says it right away that the evil spirit is back! And his son is winking again. I ask him how it is, he replied just like it was. I chant Ta Pei Chou to the water, and I tell him to do as before. Not long after, he calls me to say that everything is back to normal. But after two months, he calls me again that the evil spirit is back again and his son is winking again, but this time his son's eyes are red! Not like before. It's really strange, I ask him to bring him to doctor. Apparently, he had done it, and doctor gives him antibiotic to treat the infections, but his son winks even more.
I think the evil spirit will not go away with ordinary methods. I have to beg for Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu to liberate his suffering. I have to buy a round mirror and yellow edged. Offer fragrance flowers and fruits for the ceremony. Sincerely begging for Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu to shine the light onto the mirror with full concentration, I draw and chant the mantra. I also visualize the light of Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu descends from altar to enter the round mirror. So there it is a very powerful Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu mirror finished!
I give the mirror to him and teach him to chant Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu , every night to burn charm papers and pray on the mirror. One should put a half cup of boiled water, sincerely chant 108 times of Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu mantra to the water then one can drink it. The result this time is very good, he just does it for two nights and his son is already recovered. After I observe it longer, everything goes smoothly. But I still ask him every night to do it, and all the family members must drink the mantra water, one can also take half cup of the water to be sprinkled all around the house.
Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu mantra possesses Great Unimaginable divine power. Not only to get rid of malevolent spirits and enemies but also get rid of all disasters and dangers, change one's bad fate to fortunate one. It because when one chants Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu their will be many Dakanas and Dakinis descend to protect one, Those who often chant Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu is a person blessed with good fortune. With the Budhahood power of Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu blessing the person who chant it. Therefore those who pray in front of Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu every night will surely have a great merit.
If one can chant the mantra every night, one is a very lucky, full of energy, and perseverance, will benefit one forever. Until one year later, his son is still alright. A person who drinks Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu water mantra since a child the person will be healthy and fortunate for all one's lifetime.
2 All Heart Wishes Come to Reality.
There is a lady; she is fellow Dharma sister of the writer, still very young. Finishing senior high school, soon she will work in government office. But her body is very weak, never been healthy, this is because she is very diligent on bhavana at night, and she still has to perform sadhana. What is more disturbing to her is that her house is in Sa Thien whereas her work is Cung Huan, everyday, she walks up every morning 7:00 am, hurily eating breakfast then go to chase the bus and must wait in line with others because her house is far from train station, then, she transits using subway to Cung Hwan. Because the time to go to and back from work coincidence with the rush hour, people are crowded, has to transit again everyday going to and back take about two hours, It's really tiring.
Her mother really loves her, often begs to Budha hoping that she can be moved to work in the Sa Thien, therefore, she doesn't have to travel so tiredly and save two hours. If it comes into reality, then, it will be great. But work in the government is not like one can move freely from one place to another, there are so many things under consideration, it depends on the government, she has ever tried to propose change of place, but up to now, there's no reply.
Until one day, she and her mom come to my place, luckily I have spare time, it gives me an idea, "I will teach both of you "Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu", it will benefit both of you."
Luckily they are fortunate enough and study right away. This mantra is very practical, soon right after practicing it, they know how to do it right way. I also teach them to bless the water, and drink it. Her family is devoted to Budhism, every mantra will be chanted sincerely and piously. I also suggest them to chant it while on the journey, sitting, sleeping, as soon as she has spare time. They do as instructed.
About a month later, there's good news, the request to change work place has been granted. As she wished, she is moved to Sha Thien only two minutes walking from her house. After the transfer, she is now working even more happily, her heart is even more cheerful, and her body is getting fatter and healthier. How great is the power of Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu, how noble it is.
To change one's unfortunate fate, so that "What one wish come to reality", even to become Budha, all of these depend upon one's faith and one's resolution, must be seriously do it, not only by words. There are so many people want to change one's bad fate, when one's business or work is not good, one's heart believes in karmic law, believes and sure about Budha Dharma, but apparently unable to do it, it's not enough by just think of it, "I hope there's somebody else to do it, to make the charm papers, or to recite the mantra, help me to realize my dream, it will be great. After doing it, I will give him money."
There are some thinking, "My business, my mind are in darkness, I don't even have energy to do it, how is it possible?" There are also some people, right when business runs smoothly, "My business runs alright, is that really necessary? Now, I am really busy, some other time maybe." Just wait if my business is not good, then I will look for help; when help is on the way, one will say, "Now, I am out of work, I don't even have appetite, I don't sleep well, no energy, it's better of if somebody could help me with mantra chanting." These people above are just waste of time, it's really pitiful, the story can be an example for them.
3. "Mom, Why this Room is so Bright Today?"
Miss xxxx knows me for long time, lately, her fate is not so good, she faces countless unfortunate events, it's indescribable.
Firstly, her husband has an affair, forgets about her and the children. This, she still can bear, and with little amount of money left, she works together with someone opening a boutique, she is hoping that she will have something to rely on, she can educate her children to be somebody. Unknowingly, her work mate gives a little bit of more power to her ex-husband, also she does not know English, a very weak widow, they make an alliance to cheat her in the contract, then they take over the whole boutique.
Both incidents hit her life hard, then, she decided to commit suicide, but finally, she is strong enough to decide to continue with her life. Then, she tried her bet to get even(justice back on her side), but due to her enemy is very strong, and they have set up everything perfectly, and there's none of helping her, she is in corner, as if asking help from earth and sky and there's really no answer at all.
He has ever looked for me to foretell her destiny, apparently, its really bad. How bad? I suggest to her to beg to Bodhisattva and chant Budhist Sutra. I recommend for her go chant Kao Wang Kwan Se Im Cen Cing and Chi Fu Me Cue Cen Cing, she agrees to it. But due to obstacles and she does not chant it wholeheartedly, but if she has "spare time", so she just does not chant it often.
She and both her children often get sick in turn, her youngest child falls from high place and break his arm, doctor put them back together but not correctly. The eldest daughter get flu for months not cured. There's not little amount of money has been spent, she really has bad fate. There's one more strange thing, about it, both of her children are afraid of sleeping in the bedroom but rather sleep in the living room, if asked, they will say, “It’s really dark in there, and there's a ghost in there following us, it's really scary." Actually there are windows and light in the bedroom, it's enough lighting in the room; she often scolds her daughter, who is just nine, "You are just a little girl, watch too much TV, and talk nonsense." But even though persuaded, she insist on not to sleep in the bedroom.
Approximately three months later, she comes to me again and telling me all about it. She asks me to foretell her fate, it's still bad. This time, I tell her to chant mantra again, maybe due to I advises her too often times, finally, she agrees to chant it diligently and earnestly, looking at the condition, I am really to teach her Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu, but first, I ask her to chant Kao Wang Kwan Se Im Chen Cing 1000 x, then she can come for me again in the future. She completes it. Then, I buy a rounded, yellow bordered mirror. According to the ritual and ceremony, I make the mirror of Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu mantra. She comes, I give her the mirror along with the cassette, and I also teach her how to empower the water. Finishing mantra chanting, she gives the water to all family members and sprinkles it all over the house, so these are my suggestions to her.
On the third day, she calls me, "Your mirror is really awesome! On the first night, I already see the result!" I ask her to tell me more. She tells me that right after bringing the mirror home, she put it on top of the table in the bedroom, and then, she is learning how to chant. She learns it quickly, then, she empowers the water. Finishing this, the children are not home yet from school, upon arriving at home, after putting their bags down, entering the bedroom, they loudly say, "Mom, why this room is so bright?" Since then, the children rather stay in the bedroom.
Now, she is more convinced, she will chant the mantra even more diligently and seriously. I give her encouragement that this is only for the start, to change the bad fate, one must "do" it wholeheartedly, and continuously. Budha is full of compassion if one asks with full of faith sincerely and strong will, surely Budha will descend to help one crossing from the sea of sufferings. If Budha does not come and liberate one from the problem, it's not Budha.
Note: According to her, she realizes it now why her fate is like this, it's due to her karma, She remembers that she used to live abroad while she is a child with her two sisters. Following her neighbors advises, they often catch kittens and put them on the baskets and drown them to death. Countless of lifes have been lost, this is a big sin. She has committed, and because of this, her fate is now like this, full of obstacles and suffering. Now her sister is still abroad, apparently her sister's fate is a lot worst than her, not only her sister got divorced, her sister also suffers from nervous disorder and mental disorder. This problem is really bothering the whole family members. There's no more peace in the house.
Then, she thinks again about her brother who is in the young age often killed birds for couple of years. His sins are very heavy too. Lately, his fate is starting to get worst. He studies abroad. One time, he drives a car, there's a strange incident. Unknowingly, he hits a child. Then, he is frustrated, lost his energy, his studies fall back many, his examinations failed, maybe his future is bleak.
She tells me that after reading Budhist books, she realizes of Karmic Law connecting the fate of her brother and sister, it's now clear that the last of Causes and Effects controls the fate. She feels that she is very fortunate not only knowing about this problem(not blaming others), she also has the chance to save herself, thanks to reading Budhist books and sutras. Her father lives in
This is actually very simple, people who have murdered; those spirits will take revenge, always following and clinged to one and do many kinds of bad things to one as revenge. These grudgeful spirits can make their enemies bankrupt, or their enemies will be sentenced to jail, or they will lose their reputations and self esteem, or failed marriages, or got hit by car, robbed, rapped, suffer from incurable strange diseases, not getting along with other family members, etc. These are done by the grudged spirits as retributions.
There are many women who abort their babies, they will get retributions from the unborned babies, the more one abort babies, the more the retributions, the best way to reduce the sins and spirits retributions is to read Budhist sutras and mantras.
It's pity to those who do not know Budhas, those who do not believe in Budha Dharma, those who do not know about karmic consequences, those who know but don't want to do it.
4. Antiques Causing Dizziness
There's a lady living in the foot of mountain, she is very wealthy. She and her husband is very respectable family in
But for the last two to three years, their house is surrounded big incidents. The couples take turns entering the hospitals having major surgeries; her husband has to lose one of his kidneys. There's a girl living not far from her house, when she is going to visit her friend for a while, she parks her car in a field which is slightly at an angle. When she is just about to leave her car, suddenly, the empty car moves by itself, when her daughter opens the car's door to press on the brake, her daughter is dragged for several meters, hurting her legs and arms. The car keeps on sliding and hurting two more people. Since then, her daughter changes drastically, in the past, her daughter is patient and gentle, so people called her "miss sweetie", now her daughter is furious and often scolds people, as if she is a different person. Moreover, her daughter used to be devoted and kind to her, now her daughter often scolds her and hates her. These things really beyond her beliefs. Besides this, she also suffers from headache out or inside the house. There are numerous specialist doctors check her, but unable to find the cause, they can only say that it's caused by "weak nerves", hundreds of medicines unable to cure her.
Thru her friends, she finds me, she thought that it could be that because her Feng Shiu is not good, but she has been there for twenty years and there's nothing happened in the past. She has invited some Feng Shui masters before, but couldn’t find anything wrong with them. After going thru my divination, tells me that many things happened due to some kind of "evil spirit". Mainly, I tell her, but she does not feel surprised at all, because she has guessed it long time ago.
It should be that a good person like her will be protected by virtuous Gods? Why there's still some evil spirits attached to her? I am quite riddled by it, but soon, I solve it.
Not long after she invites me to her house, It's my desire to see her house, I agree to her right away. Right on the appointed time, I bring a mirror which has been empowered together with my wife driving. Arriving at her house, we get off the car. Before entering the elevator, my wife has already felt dizzy, while I enter her house about half an hour later, started to get light headache, this time my wife got strong headache.
The most obvious thing from her house is that, there are so many antiques. Many kinds of jewelries, handcrafted jades, etc. filled up the shelves. It's very attractive. She told me that her husband likes to collect antiques. He is an antique collector, so that there are so many antiques. But she is suspicious of two items, not suspicious on their originalities, but they maybe carrying "evil spirits", because she often feels chilled and make her hair stand on end. As if there is a shadow keep on following her. She shows me the antiques. I take closer look at it. There's a one meter tall ceramic. It gives a special impression on me, I am sure this is the cause of it, the spirit resides in it, and it's not ordinary spirit. It's a savage spirit. Most probably this belongs to somebody who is so dear to it, and when he died its buried together with him, when people dig it out, the spirit is attached to it, whoever owns it will encounters disaster.
Even though, those who give so much charities will be protected from disasters, but she will not be able to evade from this one, because there's karmic law with it. Because she has taken away the most precious belonging of the death. It's the same as robbing the spirit's belonging. Facing this spirit, one must call upon a priest, the priest then will use Ti Chang Wang Pu Sat Ta Tze Pei to set free spirit from the present conditions the priest must pray for the spirit so that the spirit 's rage will be calmed down, so that the spirit will be willing to receive liberation, or another alternative is that for the owner to recite Ta Pai San Kai Fu Mu for long time, because ordinary people, their spiritual power is low, must perform liberations from anger for long time.
After knowing her antique, I feel that it's not so easy, I can help her, but not sure that it will finish just like that. The most disappointing fact is that the owner is not interested in chanting.
